Why This Blog
Idealism is a philosophy that the universe, though containing matter, is fundamentally immaterial. Modern Idealism is choosing to believe this philosophy, despite the masses of people in our day who strive for the material above all else. It is the belief in the spirit and the mind, despite lack of tangible evidence - because the evidence is beyond the physical realm. To "The Modern Idealist" - people that strive to look at the bigger picture, pursue ideals, practice spirituality, and value virtues; believing that there are matters greater than the material - this is for you...
I write this blog also as a reaction to all the wrong that I believe to be in the world. My wallet was stolen twice in a week. I have a close family member who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. A traffic policeman pulled me over and tried to extort money from me. A friend of mine is being cheated by his brother for inheritance. My country was voted the most corrupt in Asia. I lived with murderers who were called monsters, though I learned to love them because deep inside, they are people just like me. It was then that I started this blog. Not because the world is bad, but because somehow, the people in it still want to be good. This was built on the hope that people can change. That one day, thieves will no longer steal, terminal illnesses will be healed, corruption will be put to justice, relationships will be valued over money and that God can save us if we want... This is a daily dose of optimism that aims to help us to find some goodness amidst all the other stuff.
